The biggest question for the San Francisco 49ers this offseason involves quarterback Brock Purdy and his contract situation. 49ers owner Jed York says the team wants to keep Purdy and hopes to work out a long-term extension.

49ers Owner Wants Brock Purdy Back

The San Francisco 49ers’ Levi’s Stadium will host Super Bowl LX in 2026.

In a Monday morning ceremony to mark the road to Super Bowl LX, York spoke about the team’s contract negotiations with Purdy. York made one thing clear: he believes Purdy is the 49ers quarterback of the future.

“I know we want Brock to be here for a long time and we’ll do everything we can to make that work,” York said via Associated Press.

Selected with the final pick of the 2022 NFL Draft, Purdy has been a stable force at quarterback, helping lead the 49ers to the Super Bowl in 2024.

As a seventh-round pick, Purdy has made less than $1 million annually in the first three seasons. Purdy’s deal is arguably the best bargain in the NFL.

Purdy’s contract will increase to $5.2 million this season thanks to making the Pro Bowl last season. Purdy also finished fourth in MVP voting in 2023.

The 49ers are coming off a difficult 6-11, which saw several key players, including Purdy, miss time due to injury.

Who Are The NFL’s Highest-Paid Quarterbacks?

Trevor Lawrence Jacksonville Jaguars $55 million

Jalen Hurts Philadelphia Eagles $51 million

Purdy is eligible to sign an extension this offseason.

With the value for quarterbacks rising every year, it’s in the organization’s best interest to sign Purdy this year if they want him back.

Dallas’ Dak Prescott is the highest-paid quarterback in the NFL at $60 million annually, followed by a trio of players —including Cincinnati’s Joe Burrow, Green Bay’s Jordan Love, and Jacksonville’s Trevor Lawrence — at $55 million.

While Purdy is not expected to command over $55 million annually, his new deal will likely exceed $50 million.
