The Broncos’ leading rusher will miss significant time.
The Broncos ruled Dobbins out for Sunday’s game against the Kansas City Chiefs. Dobbins is dealing with a foot injury that might be more significant than initially reported.
Per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero, Dobbins could be placed on injured reserve, which would require him to miss a minimum of four games. Dobbins is still considering his options.
Broncos’ remaining schedule:
- vs. Kansas City Chiefs
- Bye week
- at Washington Commanders
- at Las Vegas Raiders
- vs. Green Bay Packers
- vs. Jacksonville Jaguars
- at Kansas City Chiefs
- vs. Los Angeles Chargers
Dobbins has been having a career renaissance the past two seasons.
After missing nearly the entire season with an Achilles injury in 2023, Dobbins left the Baltimore Ravens and signed with the Los Angeles Chargers heading into the 2024 season.
Dobbins took advantage of his opportunity in Los Angeles and set career highs in carries (195) and yards (905). Dobbins also scored nine touchdowns, the most since his rookie season in 2020.
Dobbins only played in 13 games last season because an MCL sprain kept him out of four contests.
After a career year, Dobbins signed a one-year deal with the Broncos in August. Dobbins was expected to enter a competition for the starting running back with RJ Harvey and Jaleel McLaughlin.
Dobbins eventually won the job and ran with it. Dobbins leads the Broncos with 153 carries, 772 rushing yards, and four rushing touchdowns.
Harvey will likely get the first crack at the starting job, followed by McLaughlin and Tyler Badie.

The Broncos head into Week 11 with one of the best records (8-2) in the NFL. For the first time in a decade, they have a chance to gain the upper hand on the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC West.
The Chiefs are in third place in the AFC West at 5-4. It’s an unfamiliar position for Kansas City, which has won nine straight division titles. The Broncos were the last non-Chiefs team to win the AFC West in 2015.
A lot is riding on Sunday’s game. If the Broncos win, they move to 9-2 and gain an important tiebreaker over the Chiefs. A loss also makes it extremely difficult for the Chiefs to win the AFC West.
If the Broncos lose, then the Chiefs march right back into the division race.
