Bryson DeChambeau Scored a $2.25 Million Payday With His U.S. Open Victory
Bryson DeChambeau is reinventing the wheel in the game of golf, and it just paid off big time.
DeChambeau shot a final-round 67 to win the 2020 U.S. Open by six strokes on Sunday. He finished as the only player under par in the entire tournament. DeChambeau made history with his impressive major performance, and it just added $2.25 million to the lucrative year he’s enjoyed financially.

DeChambeau dominated the golf headlines over the last year by adding 40 pounds of weight and becoming the longest hitter on Tour. The way he’s approached the sport this season has been controversial, to say the least, but he just validated his play style in a big way at the U.S. Open.
DeChambeau shot a 3-under 67 in the final round on Sunday to win the second major championship of the year.
Winged Foot Golf Club, which is notoriously one of the toughest major venues in PGA Tour history, was no match for DeChambeau all weekend. ‘The Scientist’ fired four sub-par rounds en route to a six-stroke penalty. No one else in the entire field finished under par, and no one shot better than even in the final round.
DeChambeau made history on the course this weekend, and he also made some personal history with a $2.25 million payday.

With his victory at Winged Foot, DeChambeau will pocket a personal-best $2.25 million in winnings. The U.S. Open carries the third-largest purse on the PGA Tour schedule, right behind The Players and the TOUR Championship.
DeChambeau’s $2.25 million payday brings his 2020 earnings to over $7 million. He took home $1.35 million with his win at the Rocket Mortgage Classic earlier this year, and he also notched nine top-10 finishes throughout the season.
The win vaulted DeChambeau to No. 2 on the list of highest-earning PGA Tour players this season. Justin Thomas is the only player who has him beat in 2020 with over $7.5 million in earnings so far.

DeChambeau might play the game a whole different way than everyone else on Tour, but it sure works for the beefy bomber. He now has six professional wins on his resume, and that’s amounted to over $20 million in career earnings.
DeChambeau has now earned more than $7 million this season alone, but it isn’t even his richest year on Tour. In 2018, DeChambeau won three times and earned over $8 million.
He’s been one of the best and most consistent players on Tour all season long, and it finally paid off with his first career major victory. It wouldn’t be surprising to see him win even more in the next few years.
