Lamb suffered a high left ankle sprain in Sunday’s 31-14 loss to the Bears.
Per ESPN’s Todd Archer, Lamb could miss three to four weeks with the sprain.
Lamb injured his ankle in the first quarter of Sunday’s game. Lamb tried to come back later in the game, but the medical team removed him after one snap.
The initial report from ESPN’s Adam Schefter said the Cowboys would reevaluate Lamb in 10-14 days. However, Archer’s reporting says the injury will now keep Lamb out at least two weeks, but it could reach four.
While speaking on 105.3 The Fan in Dallas, executive vice president Stephen Jones spoke about Lamb’s injury and the team’s plan for their star wide receiver.
“I think we’ve got to evaluate the full thing and see how he’s moving around as the day goes,” Jones said. “Certainly, he’s got a high ankle sprain, and every one of those are different. We’d love to have him back for Green Bay, but at the same time we also got to understand the injury is what it is, and we’ll play it out.”
For now, the Cowboys do not plan to put Lamb on IR, which would mean Lamb could not play for a minimum of four games.
The Cowboys’ upcoming schedule:
- Sept. 28: vs. Green Bay Packers
- Oct. 5: at New York Jets
- Oct. 12: at Carolina Panthers
- Oct. 19: vs. Washington Commanders
Lab finished Sunday’s loss with zero catches. Lamb came into the game with 16 receptions for 222 yards and no touchdowns.

Losing Lamb is a gigantic loss for the Cowboys’ offense. When Lamb is on the field, he’s one of the five best wide receivers in the NFL.
George Pickens will step into the role of the Cowboys’ No. 1 receiver during Lamb’s absence. Pickens finished Sunday’s game with five receptions for 68 yards and one touchdown.
Tight end Jake Ferguson should also see an increase in production. On Sunday, Ferguson led the Cowboys with 13 receptions for 82 yards.
KaVontae Turpin and Jalen Tolbert should see more targets without Lamb.
The Cowboys (1-2) host the Green Bay Packers (2-1) in Week 4. All eyes will be on Micah Parsons, who returns to Dallas for the first time since being traded to Green Bay in August.
