Dallas Mavericks Raise Season Ticket Prices 8.6% After Doncic Trade, Irving Injury

Dallas Mavericks fans simply cannot catch a break. Just a few weeks ago, the Mavericks were considered legitimate NBA title contenders but that dream has since faded into obscurity. Instead of raising banners, the front office decided to raise ticket prices heading into next season, a sign that they’ve simply lost touch with their fan base.

What are you even supposed to say about what is going on with the Mavs right now? This is an NBA apocalypse.

Since trading away Luka Doncic, the face of the franchise, at the beginning of February, Dallas has gone on to lose its best two remaining players to injury.
Oft-injured Anthony Davis lasted less than one full game in a Mavericks uniform before getting hurt and point guard Kyrie Irving suffered a torn ACL on Monday, putting an end to his 2024-25 season. As a result, the team is considering shutting down Davis for the remainder of the regular season, despite the fact that the Mavericks remain in the hunt for a spot in the Play-In Tournament.
To make matters worse, the franchise just informed its season ticket holders that prices will go up by 8.61% next season.
For Mavericks fans, the announcement is an insult to injury for a team that saw its NBA Championship hopes decimated in less than a month’s time.
Will The Franchise Ever Recover From The Doncic Trade?
One of the main reasons stated for trading Doncic away was that it significantly improved the Mavericks’ NBA championship odds over the next few seasons. Mavs GM Nico Harrison gambled Dallas’ bright future with Doncic to create a more balanced roster with a shorter window of opportunity to win an NBA title.
However, it also opened up the franchise to a potential disaster if a potential wave of injuries were to hit the team. Unfortunately for Mavericks fans, that’s exactly what happened and many will be left to wonder how and if ever Dallas will recover from franchise-altering trade.
The aftermath of the Doncic deal has left the Mavericks in turmoil, with a fan base that feels betrayed and a roster that looks more fragile than ever. The decision to raise ticket prices amid such uncertainty only adds fuel to the fire, making it harder for one of the league’s best fan bases to remain loyal to their franchise.
NBA analyst Zach Lowe recently called the Mavericks an ‘NBA apocalypse’ and he might be right, but this might be playing out exactly as the Adelson family had hoped. Following the Doncic deal, rumors circulated that the family might move the team to Vegas if it cannot successfully lobby for gambling to be legalized in Texas.
have a theory that the new owner, gop megadonor miriam adelson, is trying to sabotage the dallas mavericks so she can move the team to las vegas, where she’s based https://t.co/qWk693VlJA
