Daniel Suarez

Daniel Suarez expressed heartfelt gratitude Tuesday that his wife, mother and mother-in-law survived a violent car wreck on Monday in North Carolina.

In a post on social media platform X, Suarez credited the Chevy Blazer his wife Julia Piquet was driving for saving her life and the lives of both passengers.

In the same post, Suarez shared photos of the battered SUV. From the pictures, it looks like all airbags deployed. So clearly, the situation could’ve been far more dire.

“Yesterday was a very scary day,” Suarez wrote on X, clearly shaken by what occurred. “Today, I’m just so grateful they are are alive.”

What Happened To Cause Crash Involving Family Members Of Daniel Suarez?

According to WCNC, the NBC TV affiliate based out of Charlotte, Julia Piquet was traveling in the Charlotte suburb of Lincoln County when she slowed to turn and another vehicle struck her SUV from behind.

The impact reportedly sent Piquet’s vehicle into the path of two other vehicles coming from the opposite direction, causing a wreck involving at least four cars.

Thankfully, Piquet, her mother and her husband’s mother didn’t suffer life-threatening injuries. WCNC said all three went to the hospital to be treated for other injuries, however. None one else was injured in the wreck, according to the news station.

Suarez’s whereabouts at the time of the accident are unknown at this time. It’s also unknown where Julia Piquet and the two mothers were headed. Not that any of that really matters, though.

The good news is that, based on Suarez’s post and local news, all three occupants of the vehicle seem to be basically OK after such a frightening event.

After Latest Scare, Daniel Suarez Is Probably Ready To Be Done With 2025

Although certainly relieved that his loved ones didn’t get injured any worse, Daniel Suarez is undoubtedly ready to put 2025 to bed.

Well before this week’s near tragedy away from the racetrack, Suarez had endured a downright dreadful year on the track. The one notable exception came in mid-June. That’s when he scored a highly popular NASCAR Xfinity Series victory in his native Mexico for JR Motorsports.

Otherwise, 2025 has been a major disappointment for Suarez, who competes full time in the NASCAR Cup Series. Along with his failure to win a Cup race and make the Cup playoffs, Trackhouse Racing announced over the summer that Suarez wouldn’t return to the organization in 2026 for a sixth season. Later, the organization named NASCAR Xfinity Series phenom Connor Zilisch as Suarez’s replacement.

Now, with just four races left in the 2025 Cup Series season, Suarez still needs a ride for 2026. Or, if he has one, he hasn’t announced it.

Either way, the first-ever Mexico native to win a Cup race will have new surroundings next season. Maybe a change in scenery is just what Suarez needs after such a tough 2025.
