Ahead of quarterback Shedeur Sanders’ first preseason start for the Cleveland Browns, Colorado head coach Deion Sanders spoke about what he expects to see from his son.
Deion Sanders Talks About Shedeur Sanders Starting For The Browns

“He’s gonna be a problem out there tonight… I promise you that”

Sanders will make his preseason debut for the Browns on Friday night against the Carolina Panthers.
Due to the Browns’ injuries at quarterback, Sanders will see a lot of playing time, something he desperately needs to make up for his lack of reps during practice.
Sanders’ father, Deion Sanders, coached his son at all levels, including at Colorado for two seasons. Deion has already spoken to his son three times before the game.
This will be the first time Deion Sanders has not coached his son since before high school. The NFL Hall of Famer admits that not coaching his son will be “a little strange.”
“It’s going to be a little weird. It’s going to be a little strange,” Deion Sanders said via MLFootball. “It really is. I got to admit that.”
Coach Prime is confident that Shedeur will deliver starting tonight against the Panthers.
“I’m praying for him, and God has set him up and placed him in the perfect position that he needs to be in,” Deion Sanders said. It’s going to be a problem after tonight, though. I promise you that.”
Sanders has been preparing his son for the NFL since high school. According to Prime, Shedeur’s mentality is the exact mindset he needs to succeed.
“That’s how he’s always approached everything, to prepare and approach it like this is it,” Sanders said. “He’s thankful and appreciative of the opportunity. He don’t get caught up in all the rhetoric in the media. He’s far beyond that. He was coached through that when he was a kid. We’ve always gone through that.”
Shedeur Sanders Gets The Start For The Browns
#Browns Kevin Stefanski said only Shedeur Sanders and Tyler Huntley will play in the game with the Panthers. Huntley will be determined how he picks up offense in a couple days, but Sanders will start pic.twitter.com/QsusiKv6HW

Sanders began training camp fourth on the quarterback depth chart behind Kenny Pickett, Joe Flacco, and Dillon Gabriel.
However, Sanders will be the only one to suit up in Friday night’s preseason game. Flacco is 40 years old and does not need to risk any injury during a preseason game.
Speaking of injuries, Pickett and Gabriel are nursing hamstring issues.
Therefore, Sanders is expected to play for the majority of the game. He will eventually be relieved by Tyler “Snoop” Huntley, whom the Browns signed earlier this week.
Like Coach Prime said, Friday night’s game is an opportunity for Sanders to move up the depth chart.
