Draymond Green Says That The Warriors Are Going To Win The Championship

The Golden State Warriors are currently in 10th place in the Western Conference. They entered the All-Star break just one game over .500, and 16.5 games behind the Oklahoma City Thunder, who are sitting in the top spot. But thanks to a blockbuster trade at the deadline, forward Draymond Green believes that they are going to win the NBA Championship this year.

Draymond Green Makes Bold Prediction About Warriors Season

Green made his statements during the All-Star pregame show on Sunday afternoon. He was selected as an analyst for the yearly event for the second year in a row, and was discussing the Jimmy Butler trade that the Warriors executed a couple of weeks back. He said that Butler has not only brought a new element to the team on the court, but that they have walked into every game since truly believing that they were going to win.

The quote was capped off with a bold statement by Green. “I think we’re going to win the championship,” he said, almost with a hesitation. When his co-hosts made him repeat the claim, he doubled down:

“I’m sorry. I said ‘I think’ we’re going to win the championship, but I lied. We are going to win the championship”

The Warriors certainly have a better shot than they did for the first three months of the season. Their struggles were known and on full display in December and January, and they are still on the fringe of the playoff picture. But they have gone 3-1 since the arrival of Butler, and have renewed hope that they can dig themselves out of a hole and into the top 8.

According to the oddsmakers, Golden State has 30/1 odds to win their fifth NBA Championship in the last 11 seasons (+3000). They have the 5th-best chance of winning the West, coming in with a current designation of +1400.

Draymond Green is averaging 8.5 points per game during the 2024-25 season.
