Per NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, Lock and the Seahawks have agreed to terms on a one-year contract.
After spending his first three seasons with the Denver Broncos, Lock was traded to the Seahawks in March 2022 as part of the Russell Wilson deal.
Lock spent two seasons in Seattle as the backup to Geno Smith.
Lock only started two games (1-1) in two seasons with Seattle. Lock’s lone win came against the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday Night Football in Week 15 of the 2023 season.
Down 17-13 with under two minutes left, Lock led the Seattle offense on a 92-yard drive, capped off by a 29-yard touchdown pass to Jaxson Smith-Njigba with 28 seconds left. Seattle held on to win by a score of 20-17.
After the 2023 season, Lock signed with the New York Giants to serve as the primary backup to Daniel Jones.
Lock, 28, appeared in eight games, making five starts (1-4). Lock’s lone win in Week 17 was also memorable in that it likely cost the Giants the No. 1 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.
Lock’s career passing numbers are 6,354 yards, 34 touchdowns, and 28 interceptions with a completion percentage of 59.6.

It’s a new era in Seattle.
After trading Smith to the Las Vegas Raiders, the Seahawks signed Sam Darnold to a three-year deal worth $100.5 million, including $55 million guaranteed.
The Seahawks are betting that Darnold’s career year in 2024 was no fluke.
Darnold went 14-3 as the starter with the Minnesota Vikings, throwing for 4,319 passing yards, 35 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions.
Darnold led the Vikings to the postseason, where they lost in the opening round to the Los Angeles Rams.
While Lock is not the answer at quarterback, he’s a top backup who can win a few games if Darnold misses time.
