ESPN and Penn have terminated their sports betting partnership. In a new agreement, ESPN has named DraftKings the exclusive official sportsbook and odds provider of the network.

ESPN & Penn Terminate Agreement

The ESPN Bet era with Penn is over.

Penn Entertainment and ESPN have mutually agreed to terminate their exclusive U.S. online sports betting agreement, effective December 1, 2025.

ESPN initially announced the pact with Penn in August 2023. The 10-year deal was worth $2 billion. Now, it ends after two years.

“When we first announced our partnership with ESPN, both sides made it clear that we expected to compete for a podium position in the space,” said Jay Snowden, CEO and President of PENN Entertainment.  “Although we made significant progress in improving our product offering and building a cohesive ecosystem with ESPN, we have mutually and amicably agreed to wind down our collaboration.  We plan to refocus our digital strategy on our growing iCasino business, while continuing to capitalize on our omnichannel advantage as the nation’s leading regional retail casino operator.”

Penn will now rebrand its online betting service in the U.S. as theScore Bet, with a target date of Dec. 1. Penn’s digital strategy will focus on the company’s iCasino business.

All outstanding payments to ESPN will cease in the fourth quarter of 2025. Leading up to Dec. 1, ESPN will work with Penn to facilitate a transition from ESPN Bet to theScore Bet.

ESPN Partners With DraftKings

Shortly after the Penn news broke, ESPN announced its new partnership with DraftKings.

Beginning December 2025, DraftKings entertainment products will be exclusively integrated across ESPN’s platforms. A full rollout is expected in 2026.

Fans can enjoy DraftKings’ sportsbook, daily fantasy, and DraftKings Pick6 at launch.

“Our betting approach has focused on offering an integrated experience within our products,” said Jimmy Pitaro, Chairman, ESPN. “Working with DraftKings, a leader in the space, will allow us to build upon that foundation, continue to super-serve passionate sports fans, and grow our ESPN direct-to-consumer business. We are excited about this new collaboration with DraftKings.”

DraftKings will be on ESPN’s platforms, including a betting tab with the ESPN app. Customers of the ESPN direct-to-consumer product will receive special promotions.

ESPN BET Live, the network’s betting show, will shift to a sports betting content brand with DraftKings Sportsbook integrations.
