Fantasy Football: 4 Must-Have Waiver Wire Pickups For Week 4 of the NFL Season

The first three weeks of the NFL season are in the books and Week 4 could be a turning point for managers looking to stay afloat in their respective leagues. Injuries, breakout performances, and shifting depth charts have created opportunities for fantasy players to scoop up league-winning talent off the waiver wire this week. Whether you need running back depth, a tight end with upside, or a wide receiver stash who could pay off big in the coming weeks, we’ve got you covered. Below, we’ve highlighted four must-add players who could make an immediate impact and help you gain an edge in Week 4 and beyond.

Blake Corum

Blake Corum

The former Michigan standout appears to be gaining steam every week and could take over as the starting running back in an explosive Rams offense at some point this season.

Corum has outperformed starter Kyren Williams in limited work through the first three weeks but that could change soon.

The former third-round pick has gained 99 yards on 14 carries and his 7.1 yards per carry is the highest average among running backs with at least 10 rushing attempts so far this season. After getting just one touch in Week 1, Corum has made the most of his opportunities over the last two weeks, gaining 97 yards on 13 carries.

Look for Sean McVay to get the sophomore more involved in the running game, especially if Kyren Williams remains ineffective with a heavy workload.

Trey Benson

Trey Benson

James Connor suffered a gruesome injury in Week 3, opening up a major role for backup Trey Benson. The former third-round pick out of Florida State is in position to secure an every down role in Arizona’s offense. Connor had 40 touches in just 2.5-games and looked to be getting more involved against San Francisco before suffering a season-ending foot injury.

Benson suddenly finds himself as the best running back on the roster. He rushed for 291 yards as a rookie, and has been explosive with the ball in his hands this season, averaging 6.0 yards per carry through the first three weeks. He’s also a capable receiver out of the backfield, which makes him even more valuable in PPR formats.

Isaiah Likely

Isaiah Likely

While Mark Andrews is coming off his best game of the season against the Detroit Lions, he’s been supplanted as Lamar Jackson’s top target on offense. Andrews had just one catch in each of the first two weeks and Likely is expected to be back in time for Baltimore’s Week 4 game against the Kansas City Chiefs. Baltimore’s offense thrives on its ability to create big plays in the passing game, something Likely has consistently provided through his first three NFL seasons. After showing flashes with 14 touchdowns as the Ravens’ backup tight end, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Likely supplant Andrews before the season is over, especially now that Baltimore is off to a disappointing 1-2 start.

Brandon Aiyuk

Brandon Aiyuk

Before getting injured last season, Aiyuk established himself as one of the NFL’s best young receivers with back-to-back 1,000-yard campaigns in 2022 and 2023. While Ricky Pearsall has cemented his role in the 49ers’ offense, San Francisco didn’t sign Aiyuk to a $120 million deal to be the No. 2 wide receiver. While Aiyuk will not be back in Week 4, he appears to be progressing well and could return as soon as Week 6 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. With Mac Jones playing well and Purdy set to return as soon as next week, it’s worth taking an early flyer on Aiyuk before it’s too late.
