Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis return for another body-swap adventure in Freakier Friday. Will nostalgia lead to profits? View the box office odds and predictions for Freakier Friday.
What Is Freakier Friday About?
In Freaky Friday, Anna Coleman (Lohan) and her mother, Tess (Curtis), switched bodies after an encounter with magic fortune cookies. By seeing how the other half lives, the two grew closer and formed a stronger bond before switching back.
Years later, Anna now has a teenage daughter, Harper (Julia Butters), and will be getting a stepdaughter, Lily (Sophia Hammons), after marrying Eric (Manny Jacinto).
Harper and Lily do not get along. In the lead-up to the wedding, the Coleman curse strikes again, but this time, four women have swapped bodies. Anna and Harper have swapped bodies, while Tess and Lily have changed identities.
Now posing as adults, the kids hatch a plan to ruin Anna’s impending nuptials to Eric so they don’t have to form a combined family. It won’t be easy, and hijinks will most definitely ensue.
Reprising their roles from Freaky Friday for the sequel are Mark Harmon as Ryan, Chad Michael Murray as Jake, Rosalind Chao as Pei-Pei, Christina Vidal Mitchell as Maddie, Haley Hudson as Peg, Ryan Malgarini as Harry Coleman, and Lucille Soong as Pei-Pei’s mom.
Nisha Ganatra directs the sequel from a screenplay written by Jordan Weiss.
Freakier Friday opens in theaters on August 8, 2025.
