Georges Niang agreed to a one-year, $3.9 million contract with the Golden State Warriors, ESPN’s Shams Charania reported.
The deal fills Golden State’s final roster spot after a quiet offseason that returned many familiar faces from last season’s roster.
Niang gives the Warriors a veteran forward with a career 39.9% mark from 3-point range. He did not play during the 2025-26 season after fracturing his left foot in September.
What Is Confirmed About the Niang Contract
Charania reported that Niang will sign for one year and $3.9 million. ESPN reported that the move completes the Warriors’ 15-man roster entering next season.
Before his injury, Niang appeared in 72, 76, 78, 82 and 79 games over the previous five seasons. He has averaged 7.4 points across 544 NBA games with the Indiana Pacers, Utah Jazz, Philadelphia 76ers, Cleveland Cavaliers and Atlanta Hawks.
How Niang Fits With Golden State
If healthy, Niang adds another 3-point shooting option to the Warriors’ roster. ESPN reported that he is expected to take a reserve frontcourt role behind veterans Draymond Green, Kristaps Porzingis and Al Horford, as well as rookie Yaxel Lendeborg.
Golden State dealt with injuries last season, with Stephen Curry, Moses Moody, Jimmy Butler III and Horford among the players affected. Niang’s shooting profile adds depth to a roster that has already added a veteran forward.
Niang also has prior experience within the organization. He played for the Santa Cruz Warriors, Golden State’s G League affiliate, during the 2017-18 season after joining the Warriors in training camp in 2017.
Niang’s Track Record Before the Injury
Niang last played for Atlanta during the 2024-25 season before being traded to Utah. He missed the entire 2025-26 campaign because of the foot injury.

What Comes Next for the Warriors
The Niang signing and the earlier agreement with reserve guard Brandon Williams were Golden State’s first two external free-agent additions of the summer, according to ESPN.
The Warriors’ next piece of business comes later in the weekend, when Curry becomes extension eligible Saturday.
