Geno Smith Signs Contract With Las Vegas Raiders

Per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Smith and the Raiders have agreed to a two-year, $75 million contract extension.

Smith’s contract could reach a maximum of $85.5 million, with $66.5 million guaranteed.

Smith had one year and $31 million left on his three-year contract he signed with the Seattle Seahawks in 2023.

Smith’s extension now keeps him under contract with the Raiders through the 2027 season.

Last month, the Seahawks traded Smith, 34, to the Raiders for a 2025 third-round pick.

It’s a reunion for Smith and head coach Pete Carroll, who worked together in Seattle from 2019 to 2023.

Smith had been a journeyman for the first nine seasons of his career. 2022 changed the trajectory of his career.

Smith threw for 4,282 yards, 30 touchdowns (career high), and 11 interceptions with a league-leading 69.8 completion percentage. Smith led the Seahawks to the postseason, made the Pro Bowl, and won the NFL’s Comeback Player of the Year.

Smith now takes over for a Raiders’ team whose trio of Gardner Minshew, Aidan O’Connell, and Desmond Ridder combined for a record of 4-13 in 2024.
