What is Him About?
“I want to be the GOAT,” Cameron Cade says in the trailer for Him.
Cade (former collegiate wide receiver Tyriq Withers) was once projected to be the next quarterback phenom. Before professional football’s scouting combine, Cam is attacked by a fan and suffers significant brain trauma.
Believing his career might be over, Cade receives a unique opportunity to train with Isaiah White (Marlon Wayans), a former eight-time championship-winning quarterback who happens to be Cam’s hero.
Cade gets invited to train at White’s isolated compound, which he shares with his celebrity influencer wife, Elsie White (Julia Fox). The more time Cade spends at the compound, the crazier things get.
Cam is moving toward the point of no return and starts to lose his mind. Is it too late to turn back?
Him also stars Tim Heidecker, Jim Jefferies, Maurice Greene, Guapdad 4000, and Tierra Whack.
Him is directed by Justin Tipping from a screenplay he co-wrote with Skip Bronkie and Zack Akers. Jordan Peele produces through his Monkeypaw Productions.
Universal Pictures will release Him in theaters on September 19, 2025.

Him is an interesting example of how to market a movie.
In every trailer and video clip, Him heavily promotes Peele’s involvement. “From producer Jordan Peele” and the Monkeypaw banner are the first names you see.
You would think Peele is the director of Him with how much the marketing is leaning into his involvement. Peele is an Oscar-winning filmmaker, so it’s smart for Universal to lean into his involvement.
Peele is hoping that Him can open to a number similar to 2021’s Candyman, a Peele-produced project that opened to $22 million.
Initial tracking estimates have Him opening between $17 million and $23 million. Polymarket’s odds have an opening between $19 million and $22 million (+178) as the favorite.
Him will face box office competition from movies like The Conjuring: Last Rites, Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale, The Long Walk, and Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba.
Update: Him fell short of projections and opened to $13.5 million.
