NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series regular-season champion Corey Heim aims to continue his dominance into the postseason.
With the circuit taking the weekend off before kicking off the 10-team tournament at Darlington Raceway on Aug. 30, Heim capped the regular season with back-to-back wins at a road course (Watkins Glen) followed by a short track (Richmond).
Heim enters the playoffs with seven wins and 1,127 laps led. In 18 outings, he posted 14 top-10 finishes. After finishing second in the drivers’ standings last year and third in 2023, the 22-year-old Marietta, Georgia, native eyes his first circuit championship.
Heim (-145) remains the overwhelming sports-betting favorite to earn the crown, according to BetOnline Sportsbook.
Regardless of the five-year driver’s postseason fate, Heim likely earned a promotion. Rumors persist that 23XI Racing has long-term interest, but Sam Hunt Racing remains as a possible destination. SHR is known for grooming prospects on the Xfinity Series.
Could Heim be considered for Spire Motorsports’ No. 7 Chevrolet If that seat opens? A member of the Toyota developmental team since 2020, Heim told “Out of the Groove: “Yes, it’s easy to get greedy when you feel like you can perform at the top level, which I feel I can, given the right opportunity.
“I feel with my development with Toyota, they’ve always kinda put me in a good spot to succeed. I’m continuing to trust that process and I feel like, sooner than later, that will pay off.”
