The Colts have the most efficient offense in the NFL. Through seven weeks, the Colts are averaging 3.46 points per drive. Per Anthony Dabbundo, that’s the most by a team through seven weeks this century.
The Colts are first in the NFL in points per game with 33.1. That’s the best mark for a Colts team in the Super Bowl era through seven weeks. That’s better than any team quarterbacked by Peyton Manning and Andrew Luck.
Speaking of quarterbacks, Daniel Jones is playing the best football of his career. “Indiana Jones” has thrown for 1,790 yards, 10 touchdowns, and three interceptions in seven games. Jones has also rushed for four touchdowns.
Jones has had one or fewer sacks and a passer rating over 100 in six of seven games.
The Giants fans were running Jones out of New York last year. Now, Jones is the captain of the AFC-leading Colts.
Jones is generating the headlines, but Jonathan Taylor is the team’s best player.
Taylor leads the league in rushing yards (697) and touchdowns (10).

Despite their 5-1 record heading into Sunday, the Colts were underdogs against the Chargers.
Looking back, that looks silly.
The Colts offense scored on six of their first seven possessions to come away with a 38-24 statement victory over the Chargers.
Taylor led the way with 16 carries for 94 yards and three touchdowns. It’s Taylor’s third game this year with at least three rushing touchdowns.
Jones finished 23 of 34 for 288 yards and two touchdowns with a passer rating of 113.4.
After the game, Jones shared a cheeky remark when asked about what the Colts doubters need to know about this team.
“Sounds like y’all didn’t know much,” Jones said. “We’re just gonna keep going, keep working. We have a lot of confidence, I think we have a lot of good players and guys that work hard and do the right things.”
The Colts’ defense is also doing its part. Indianapolis forced two turnovers in the win, taking their total to 11 (3rd in the NFL).
At 6-1, the Colts have the best record in the AFC. Indianapolis returns home to play the Tennessee Titans in Week 8 before hitting the road in Week 9 to play a tough Pittsburgh Steelers team.
