J.J. Watt Takes Firm Stance on Tom Brady vs Patrick Mahomes Debate

The debate of Patrick Mahomes and Tom Brady has started to pick up pace after the Kansas City Chiefs star reached his third Super Bowl in three consecutive years.

A win over the Philadelphia Eagles in New Orleans would make the Chiefs the first team to over win the trophy three times in a row and Mahomes as the only QB to achieve this feat.

Moreover, the NFL superstar could also pick up his third consecutive Super Bowl MVP which would move him to four overall and just one behind Tom Brady.

Former Houston Texans defensive end, J.J. Watt, has had his say over the debate and despite the recent achievements he still beleives Brady is the undisputed GOAT.

He said: “If he wins this Super Bowl, he ranks behind only one person: Tom Brady. That’s it. I think this is the one that surpasses Joe Montana, and now he’s in pursuit of No. 1 all-time.”

“Tom is still the GOAT. Tom Brady holds that title, and is going to hold that title. I mean, seven rings and everything else he has done.

“But I do think that Patrick now, especially this year if he does indeed go on to win it, has put himself pretty firmly in that second-place position as a 29-year-old with plenty of time to go out there and chase that title and try and take it down. It’s incredible what he’s done, you have to tip the cap.”

The general consensus at this moment in time is that Mahomes has now surpassed Joe Montana as the second best QB of all time.

Obviously the Manning brothers and Aaron Rodgers are also names to consider but winning three Super Bowls and Super Bowl MVP awards would leave Mahomes in his own category.

Tom Brady stands alone with seven Super Bowls while Joe Montana and Terry Bradshaw hold four – meaning Mahomes can match that tally in just seven seasons as a starting QB.
