After a big prime time win against the Chiefs in Week 5, the Jacksonville Jaguars had pushed their record to 4-1. But they’ve since lost two in a row, and have been outscored 55-19 over the past couple of weeks.
If they hope to remain competitive in the AFC, they may have to make some mid-season roster shifts, which could include working the phones and calling other teams. What are some deals that Jacksonville can make ahead of the November 4th NFL trade deadline? We look at three possible trade targets below:
Jaelan Phillips – EDGE, Miami Dolphins
The Jaguars are one of just three teams that has recorded a single-digit sack total over the first seven weeks. They have just 8 total, as their pass rush has been one of their notable weak spots, but they somehow still rank in the top-10 in pressures. Arik Armstead (3.5) and Travon Walker (2) are the only players who have notched more than a single sack for Jacksonville, and it would be reasonable to believe that they’d like to bolster their defensive edge.
They can just look down the Florida coast for help. The Miami Dolphins are likely to become sellers at the deadline, and two of their pass rushers have been rumored to be available. The one that would make the most sense for the Jaguars would be Jaelan Phillips, who is young enough to be a part of a team’s long term future plans. In seven games played in 2025, Phillips has recorded two sacks and 19 total tackles.
Alontae Taylor – CB, New Orleans Saints
The Jaguars have one of the worst passing defenses in the NFL, ranking in the bottom six in both yards and touchdowns allowed thus far. If they want to be able to compete in the AFC in 2025, they may have to bolster the defensive backfield, and there are at least a couple of cornerbacks that are rumored to be available for trade before the deadline.
One of them is Alontae Taylor of the Saints. He is a talented player that New Orleans would prefer to keep, but his contract is set to expire at the end of the season. He is likely to command a hefty pay day next spring in free agency, which may carry a price tag that the Saints are unwilling to match. In order to get something of value in return for his services, the team could look to trade Taylor before November 4th.
Jakobi Meyers – WR, Las Vegas Raiders
If the Jaguars hope to make any kind of noise in the AFC, they’ll likely need an upgrade at the wide receiver position. The team was hoping that Brian Thomas would step up and be their clear no. 1 in 2025, but he has struggled with drops and overall efficiency thus far. Travis Hunter and Parker Washington are next on the depth chart, neither of whom has hit the 300 yards mark through the first seven games of the year.
With the Las Vegas Raiders struggling, Jakobi Meyers has been one of the more prevalent names in the rumor mill. He is coming off of the first 1,000 yard season of his career, and scored a combined 18 touchdowns over the last three years. But the passing attack for Las Vegas ranks in the bottom five in the league, and Meyers has seen his numbers drop across the board through the first seven games of the year.
