Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts made the second-most money in 2024 of any player participating in this year’s Super Bowl. And while the $40 million in total cash earnings seems like plenty, he will have a chance to add another million dollars to the pot if things go his way in the big game.

Jalen Hurts Can Earn An Extra $1 Million In Super Bowl Incentives

When Hurts signed his five year, $255 million contract extension back in spring of 2023, he was the highest paid player in NFL history. That designation lasted less than two weeks, changing when Lamar Jackson signed his current deal, but still puts Hurts in the top-10 when it comes to the highest average value. His contract is worth an average of $51 million, much of which is still to come from the back-loaded deal.

Worked in to the deal are contract incentives, both of which are tied into the Super Bowl. Should the Eagles pull off the upset and win their second Lombardi Trophy in franchise history, Hurts would receive a $500,000 bonus.

That number would double if he has a top-tier individual performance. The only other incentive that is built into Hurts’ contract is one he earns if he is named Super Bowl MVP, in which case he would pocket another $500,000.

There is only one other player on Philadelphia’s roster that has a Super Bowl incentive built into their contract. Running back Saquon Barkley is set to make an extra $250,000 if the Eagles win, which will only add to the bonus money that he has already earned this season. Barkley gained 1,500 and 2,000 scrimmage yards which earned him $250,000 each, and another quarter-million for being selected for the Pro Bowl. When he is inevitably named a First Team All-Pro, he’ll pocket another $500,000.

There are only a couple of Kansas City Chiefs players who have any Super Bowl incentives, but one of them includes Patrick Mahomes. The quarterback will earn an extra $1.25 million should his team pull off the first three-peat in NFL history.
