Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts runs and screams.

When the Philadelphia Eagles take the field in the NFC Championship against the Washington Commanders, they’ll do it with a limited Jalen Hurts, who is dealing with a knee injury.

Will Jalen Hurts Hurts Play With A Knee Injury In NFC Title Game?

Hurts tweaked his knee in the Eagles’ 28-22 win over the Los Angeles Rams in the Divisional Round.

Hurts is known for his mobility as a runner, but the knee injury significantly limited his movement in the Rams’ game.

Pre-knee injury, Hurts ran for a 44-yard touchdown in the first half. However, Hurts struggled to escape pressure in the second half, as the Rams finished the game with seven sacks.

After the win, Hurts said he expects to play against the Commanders in Sunday’s NFC title game.

On Wednesday, Hurts took the first step toward playing by participating in Wednesday’s walkthrough. Head coach Nick Sirianni told reporters that Hurts would have been limited if the Eagles held a full practice.

“I’m progressing, taking it a day at a time,” Hurts said after practice regarding his injury. “Every game is different, so I just want to take it a day at a time and keep progressing.”

Hurts then confirmed that he will play in Sunday’s championship game.

Hurts’ mobility plays a big factor in the Eagles’ offense. When defenses key on Saquon Barkley, Hurts takes advantage of opening running lanes, as he did on his touchdown against the Rams.

Hurts is also the master of the “tush push,” a nearly automatic touchdown for the Eagles once they reach the goal line.

Eagles Vs. Commanders Split Regular Season Matchups

The Eagles and Commanders met twice this regular season, winning one game apiece.

Led by Barkley’s 146 rushing yards and two touchdowns, the Eagles defeated the Commanders 26-18 in Week 11. Hurts added 221 yards passing and one rushing touchdown.

In Week 16, Commanders rookie Jaden Daniels threw for 258 yards, five touchdowns, and two interceptions in Washington’s 36-33.

Hurts left the Week 16 loss early due to a concussion, which caused him to miss the final two games of the regular season.

Prior to the NFC Championship, the Eagles and Commanders only met once in the playoffs, with Washington coming out on top in the 1990 Wild Card round.

The Eagles host the Commanders on Jan. 26 at 3 p.m. ET on Fox.
