The New York Jets have major questions at receiver outside of Garrett Wilson. With the No. 2 WR position up for grabs, who will win the Jets’ training camp battle?

There is no question about who will be the Jets’ top receiver. That title belongs to Wilson, who recently signed a lucrative contract extension with the Jets.
Wilson and the Jets agreed to terms on a four-year, $130 million contract extension, with $90 million guaranteed. Wilson had two years remaining on his contract, including a fifth-year option. By signing Wilson now, the team locks up their star receiver through the 2030 season.
Wilson becomes the first player in NFL history to make an average annual salary over $31 million after only playing three seasons. Wilson’s salary of $32.5 million per year makes him the fifth-highest-paid wide receiver in the league.
Wilson has been as consistent as they come for the Jets. The former Ohio State product has at least 83 receptions and 1,000 yards in three seasons. Last season, Wilson set career highs in receptions (101), yards (1,104), and touchdowns (7).

Behind Wilson, the No. 2 wide receiver position for the Jets is up for grabs.
Early reports out of training camp state that Josh Reynolds is the favorite to win the job. ESPN’s Rich Cimini reported that Reynolds is the “clear-cut leader.”
Reynolds has impressed during practice, highlighted by an impressive over-the-shoulder catch over cornerback Sauce Gardner.
Reynolds has been a journeyman in the NFL, playing for five teams in eight seasons. The Jets are hoping to get Reynolds’ production from 2023, when he caught 40 receptions for 608 yards and five touchdowns with the Denver Broncos.
Allen Lazard was supposed to be the main challenger to Reynolds for the No. 2 position. However, Lazard is having a “quiet camp” and falling down the depth chart. Lazard took a significant pay cut to remain with the Jets. Lazard caught six touchdowns last season.
Other Jets looking to make a prominent impact on offense include Tyler Johnson, Arian Smith, Malachi Corley, and Xavier Gipson. Out of that group, Johnson has made the most plays during training camp and could win the No. 3 receiving position.
As long as he stays healthy, this is Reynolds’ job to lose.
