Juan Soto Misses Out On $100,000 Due To MLB All-Star Snub

When the selections were announced for the 2025 MLB All-Star Game, there were a handful of noticeable omissions. One of those was Juan Soto, who is missing out on the honors for the first time since 2020 in his first year with the New York Mets. He’s also missing out on a nice contract bonus that he has built in to his 15-year, $765 million deal.

No Bonus For Juan Soto Due To MLB All-Star Game Omission

Players around baseball have incentives built into their contract. There are some who are set to earn big bonuses if they win awards like regular season and World Series MVP, as well as Gold Gloves and Silver Sluggers. Soto is one of the players who falls into that category, as his current deal is laced with potential money boosts based on on-field performance.

One of those incentives is for All-Star appearances. Each time that Soto is selected for the mid-summer classic, he is set to pocket an extra $100,000, which he’ll obviously miss out on this season. When asked about the snub, he had the following to say:

“I think it’s a lot of money on the table if I make it”

The loss of a potential pay day likely won’t be putting any dents in the bank account of Juan Soto. At a current average annual value of $61.8 million, the 26-year-old pockets roughly $381,000 per game of a 162-game season, or about $100,000 per at-bat.

Which Players Are Receiving Bonuses?

Other MLB players are, conversely, reaping the benefits. The trio of Jose Ramirez, Jacob deGrom, and Freddy Peralta will all be earning that extra $100,000 for their All-Star appearances this season, and Josh Hader will make $75,000.

Members of the team who wins the 2025 All-Star Game will also receive a bonus. The official figure as not yet been made public this year, but the winning team in 2024 was able to split a total pot of $800,000. That worked out to each player taking home roughly $25,000. There were also incentives paid out for players who chose to wear microphones and agree to being interviewed during the game.

The 2025 MLB All-Star Game will take place in Atlanta, Georgia, and is scheduled for 8PM eastern time on Tuesday, July 15th.
