Thirty-seven-year-old Kevin Durant is in his 18th professional season. It is his first with the Houston Rockets. Durant averages 27.2 points per game for his career.
That is sixth all-time in the NBA. Kevin Durant is a four-time scoring champion and is one of the greatest individual scorers in league history. Against the Kings on Wednesday, Durant had 24 points. He fell just short of reaching a historic mark last night. However, the veteran will accomplish it on Friday. With four more points, Kevin Durant will become the 8th player in NBA history with 31,000 career points.

After a Rockets win on Wednesday night, Kevin Durant spoke with the media. The veteran forward fell just short of a career milestone vs. the Kings. Durant was four points away from reaching 31,000 career points against the Kings. However, the 37-year-old was extremely humble and reflected on his journey to get to this point.
Durant credited his current and past teammates for being there throughout his journey in the NBA. He specifically mentioned Russell Westbrook, Steven Adams, and Jeff Green. Only seven players have officially scored 31,000 in their careers. When Durant accomplishes that feat on Friday, he’ll become the eighth.

He’ll join LeBron James, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Karl Malone, Kobe Bryant, Michael Jordan, Dirk Nowitzki, and Wilt Chamberlain. That is Hall of Fame company for Kevin Durant. The two-time NBA champion would join LeBron James as the only active players on the list. Durant has a chance to make history vs. his former team on Friday.
Houston will host the Suns tomorrow night. Durant spent three seasons with Phoenix. He was traded from the Suns to the Rockets this offseason. The one-time league MVP will have an opportunity for revenge when he plays the Suns on Friday. With four points, Durant will become the 8th player in NBA history wth 31,000 career points. In year 18, Durant has shown no signs of slowing down. He’s averaging 25.0 points per game on a talented Rockets roster.
