New York Knicks Josh Hart To 'Buy A Watch' With NBA Cup Money After Getting Robbed

New York Knicks forward Josh Hart has made $10 million per year over the last five seasons, but the former first-rounder had $185,000 worth of his watches and jewelry stolen from a Manhattan hotel room where he’d been staying earlier this year, per Amanda Woods of the New York Post.

Josh Hart Plans To Buy Another Watch

In September, Hart was robbed while staying in The Dominick Hotel in SoHo. Three watches and jewelry worth approximately $185,000 were stolen from his room.

Woods noted that Hart, who lives in Westchester, had been in the city for a Sept. 6 event in Central Park with actor Ben Stiller and former New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning.

Hart, 30, has a golden opportunity to recoup his losses with the NBA Cup.

Main roster players and the head coach will each receive $530,000 if their team wins the NBA Cup. Second-place finishers get about $212,000, while quarterfinalists net roughly $50,000.

If the Knicks defeat the San Antonio Spurs on Tuesday night in the NBA Cup championship, Hart already knows what he’s buying with the prize money.

“I’ll buy a watch,” Hart recently told The Athletic’s James L. Edwards III. “I got robbed in September with no gun. I lost three watches, so I have to start replacing those. We’re in Vegas. If I put it on a hand of blackjack, I might be able to double it and get more watches.”

Hart Has Been Consistent With Knicks

Hart is currently in his ninth NBA campaign.

Through 24 games (10 starts) with the Knicks this season, Hart is averaging 12.4 points, 7.7 rebounds, 5.0 assists, 1.4 steals, and 29.7 minutes per outing while shooting 51.1% from the field and 38.1% from deep.

In 77 appearances (all starts) with New York last season, he averaged 13.6 points and career highs of 9.6 rebounds, 5.9 assists, 1.5 steals, and 37.6 minutes per contest.

The Villanova product also set a franchise record for the most triple-doubles in a single season, with a total of nine.

Per Spotrac, Hart is in the second year of the four-year, $80.91 million contract extension he signed with New York in August 2023. His deal includes a $22.37 million club option for 2027-28.

The Spurs will face the Knicks at 8:30 p.m. ET inside T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. This matchup will air exclusively on Prime Video, with pregame coverage starting at 7:30 p.m.
