Kyle Larson, Denny Hamlin Earn Top NASCAR Cup Series Drivers’ Title Odds; Ryan Blaney Achieves Rare Superspeedway Feat

As Kyle Larson enters the NASCAR Cup Series’ Round of 16 as the No. 1-ranked pilot, not everyone is pleased with the 2021 circuit champion.

Just ask Erik Jones, who missed the playoffs after Larson pushed him from the lead pack last Saturday night at Daytona.

Still, Larson appears to be shaking off his post “The Double” attempt slump. After finishing P35 at Charlotte Motor Speedway after competing in the Indianapolis 500 earlier in the day, Larson has not visited Victory Lane and finished 28th or worse four times.

Back-to-back P6s could fuel a postseason run.

With +400 odds, BetOnline Sportsbook tagged Larson and Denny Hamlin as the sports-betting favorites to capture the circuit championship.

Ryan Blaney Makes Late Moves

Ryan Blaney secured the Coke Zero Sugar 400 title by executing a rare superspeedway feat.

Blaney rallied from P13 with two laps to go to capture last Saturday night’s event at Daytona, a 2.5-mile track. Go back to 2000 for Dale Earnhardt Sr.’s victory at Talladega for similar comparisons. “The Intimidator” came back from P18 with five rotations remaining to win.

Over the past 10 years at reconfigured Atlanta, Daytona and Talladega, 35 of 51 victors drove within the top two with two laps to go.

William Byron won the season-opening Daytona 500 from the ninth position, but was aided by a final-lap crash.

Blaney (+450) earned the second-best odds to claim the series’ drivers’ championship, followed by Byron and Christopher Bell at +550.
