Kyrie Irving’s Agent Interrupted His Live Stream To Stop His Brooklyn Nets’ Rant

Kyrie Irving’s agent interrupted his recent live stream to tell the NBA star that he was oversharing details about his time with the Brooklyn Nets.

On July 16th, Irving promised to go on a live stream and address former teammate Kevin Durant’s comments on LeBron James’ Mind The Game podcast with Steve Nash.

Nash was fired as the head coach of a Nets team that included Durant, Irving, and James Harden. Brooklyn was widely expected to contend for an NBA title but things fell apart quickly after Harden demanded a trade. Durant, Irving, and Nash all saw their tenures in Brooklyn cut short the following season with Irving being dealt to Dallas and Durant traded to the Phoenix Suns.

Kyrie Irving Addresses Kevin Durant’s Comments On The Brooklyn Nets

During his appearance on Mind The Game, Durant commented on his time in Brooklyn and suggested that his fellow stars weren’t committed to competing for a championship. “I just felt like it was too many distractions in a way, and you can’t win that way,” Durant said. “It’s just so much stuff [that happened] around the guys that committed to the situation.”

Irving didn’t take kindly to Durant’s comments and was quick to address them on his recent Twitch stream on July 22nd.

“When (Durant) said this, emotionally, I was like, ‘OK.’ We’re all committed to the goal at the end of the day, but sometimes not everybody’s going to follow what you want them to do,” Irving said on his Twitch stream. “Not everybody’s going to be committed the way you want them to be committed.”

Irving Regrets How He Handled Business in Brooklyn

“Brooklyn, I wish that we got a chance to get to know them beforehand, because they wasn’t f–king with me like that. And that’s just me; that’s my perspective,” Irving explained. “Now, did they want me on the team? Sure, you could say that. But Kenny Atkinson wasn’t f–king with me like that, bro. They didn’t want me like that. They wanted K. And that’s my vantage point, right? This is the information that I gathered after I left.”

During the stream, the Mavericks star received a call from his agent, who warned him against oversharing about his time with the Nets. Irving is represented by his stepmother Shetellia Riley Irving. After the call, Irving pivoted topics and continued to talk to fans via Twitch.

Irving addressed other topics on the stream, including some of the comments made about the late-great Kobe Bryant.

“I’m talking to y’all at home, the media talking heads, the ones that casually, casually throw names around.” Irving said. “Like bro, can you knock it off? You weren’t like that. It’s OK. Not everyone could be Kobe”
