One of the breakout stars of the 2024 Paris Olympics is Leon Marchand. The 22-year-old is a member of the French men’s swimming team.

Marchand made history at this year’s 2024 Olympic games. Not only did he win four gold medals but he also broke four Olympic records along with it.

He dominated the competition becoming a four-time Olympic champion at just 22 years old.

Some have even called him the French Michael Phelps but others believe he is even better than Phelps.

It’s hard to ignore his accomplishments and while he did beat some of those records set by the one and only Michael Phelps, it will be hard to surpass the gold medals he has won in his career.

Regardless, he is one of the most polarizing figures in men’s swimming right now.

Marchand’s popularity has skyrocketed during the Olympics. Since the Opening Ceremony, Marchand has gained 1,054,704 followers, many of whom began following the swimmer after his first gold medal and Olympic record.

After winning his gold medal and heading back to his team, China coach Zhu Zhigen held out his hand to congratulate him but Marchand seemed just to ignore him and walk right past him.

It seems as if it was just a mistake, as later, he was shown taking pictures with Zhigen and apologizing in good faith.

Leon Marchand then went on to win more gold medals and broke more records along with it.

His dominance is nothing to scoff at as he couldn’t be touched at this year’s Olympic games.

Thanks to Marchand taking home four gold medals and four Olympic records, Marchand gained over 115,318 (+10.06%) followers on his Instagram since the men’s team final on August 4th.

Marchand’s teammate, Florent Manaudou saw a big increase in his Instagram following of over 45,000 (+6.12%) followers.
