Mattress Mack, a movie based on the life of entrepreneur and superfan Jim McIngvale, is now in the works.
Mattress Mack Movie Details

According to Deadline, Mattress Mack is in development from HappyBad Bungalow, Roosevelt Film Lab, and Phiphen.
Billy Magnussen will star as McIngvale, a philanthropist, businessman, and owner of the Houston-based Gallery Furniture retail chain. Dianna Agron, Darby Lee-Stack, and Rob Corddry also star.
“Jim McIngvale’s story is one of resilience, heart, and community,” Magnussen said in a statement. “I’m honored to help bring his incredible journey to the screen and to collaborate with such passionate storytellers in capturing the spirit of ‘Mattress Mack’ and the city of Houston.”
Set in the early 1980s and 2000s. Mattress Mack will follow “McIngvale’s journey as he risks everything to open Gallery Furniture alongside his wife and business partner Linda, and the challenges the family faces years later when their youngest daughter battles a debilitating case of obsessive-compulsive disorder.”
McIngvale’s story is one of generosity and community service. McIngvale has transformed his Gallery Furniture stores into temporary shelters during natural disasters. Known as a Houston hero, McIngvale donated 500 mattresses to survivors, first responders, and volunteers of the July Fourth Texas Hill Country floods this past summer.
Shane Andries, who helmed the short films Sister and The Visit, will write and direct Mattress Mack. Producers include Jon Wroblewski, Christian Sosa, Molly Conners, Magnussen, Anne Hollister, Amanda Bowers, Alex Spatt, and Lance Kramer. Carl Effenson, Curtis Knobbe, Sergi Nakaidze, and Meg Jenkins-Locke will serve as executive producers.
Production is set to begin in Texas later this month.
