Per NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, Garrett requested a meeting with Haslem to discuss a potential trade away from Cleveland.
Haslem denied the request.
Per NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo, Haslem said no to Garrett’s request because he believes Browns general manager Andrew Berry should handle the situation.
Garafolo says that Haslem “trusts” Berry to handle this situation. Additionally, Haslem does not want Garrett and his agent to bypass Berry. According to Haslem, the resolution must be worked out with the general manager, not the owner.

The offseason saga between Garrett and the Browns began in early February when the All-Pro defensive end requested a trade away from Cleveland.
“While I’ve loved calling this city my home, my desire to win and compete on the biggest stages won’t allow me to be complacent,” wrote Garrett in a statement. “The goal was never to go from Cleveland to Canton, it has always been to compete for and win a Super Bowl. With that in mind, I have requested to be traded from the Cleveland Browns.”
Garrett’s trade request is not solely about money. Garrett has two years remaining on his five-year, $125 million extension.
At 29 years old, Garrett explained that he wants to win and play for a contender.
The Browns, who finished 3-14 in 2024, are not in a place to compete for a championship.
After receiving Garrett’s trade request, Berry said the team is not interested in moving Garrett, saying he wouldn’t even trade the pass rusher for two first-round picks.
It’s a game of chicken between Garrett and the Browns. Which side blinks first?
