NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Baptist Health 200: Qualifying, Corey Heim’s Pole Position, Lineup At Homestead-Miami Speedway

After a few disappointing efforts, Corey Heim and Tanner Gray focused on improving their NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series qualifying efforts at Homestead-Miami Speedway.
The TRICON Garage teammates accomplished their mission, placing 1-2 for the start of Friday night’s Baptist Health 200. Heim turned a hot lap of 168.167 mph, edging Gray by 0.170 seconds.
For Heim, who earned wins in two events this season, the top qualifying lap marked his first pole of the season and second at the 1.5-mile track.
“Hats off to these TRICON boys,” Heim told Fox Sports.
For Gray, who is coming off his initial top-five finish in nearly a year, Friday’s qualifying effort created his first front-row start at Homestead. He said he left too much on the track.
“I felt like I gave up a little bit in (turns) one and two,” he said. “I overdrove three and four (and) gave up some time there.”
Jack Wood (164.76 mph) paced the practice field.

Kyle Larson Gunning For Kyle Busch’s Trifecta
With Kyle Larson scheduled to compete in all three national series events at Homestead, the 2021 Cup titleholder seeks to match Kyle Busch’s 2017 standard.
Busch captured the Cup, Xfinity and Truck events at Bristol Motor Speedway. The two-time Cup champion remains the lone pilot to accomplish the feat.
Larson’s goal is to match Busch.
“Sure, yeah, I guess you can consider it a bucket list sort of thing,” Larson told Fox Sports. “I think it’s just a really tough feat to do it.”
During Friday’s qualifying session, Larson placed third, 0.223 seconds behind Heim.
In a Cup car, Larson led 199 laps to earn a win at Homestead in October 2022.
Next week #NASCAR heads to Homestead Miami Speedway with all 3 of its top National series. Kyle Larson will compete in each series.
