NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Eero 250: Christian Eckes Returns; Corey Heim Earns Top Odds At Richmond Raceway

With the Xfinity Series not competing this weekend, former Truck Series pilot Christian Eckes will return to McAnally-Hilgemann Racing for Friday’s event.

Noted as a short-track specialist, Eckes will take over the No. 16 Chevrolet with crew chief Darren Foley. In seven short oval outings last season, he posted three wins and six top-five finishes.

Eckes, who compiled eight wins in 46 starts for MHR the previous two seasons, finished second at Richmond last season. He also will compete at New Hampshire Motor Speedway on Sept. 21.

Eckes ranks No. 15 in the Xfinity Series’ drivers’ standings and sits 72 points below the playoff provisional line.

In his first Truck circuit race this season, Eckes (+700) drew the fifth-best odds to capture the eero 250 title, according to BetOnline Sportsbook. Points leader Corey Heim (+275) was tabbed as the race favorite, followed by Layne Riggs (+300).
