NASCAR Cup Series Fans Respond To Bubba Wallace Claiming Rain-Delayed Brickyard 400 Presented by PPG in 2OT At Indianapolis Motor Speedway

As Bubba Wallace waited for the rain to move on from Indianapolis Motor Speedway, the embattled NASCAR Cup Series driver huddled with team officials, wondering if they had enough gas to finish the final four laps and possible overtime rotations.

Winless in his past 100 starts and under seemingly constant criticism, Wallace reflected in the big lead earned over Kyle Larson, only to have rainy weather and two overtime restarts delay his acquisition of a “Crown Jewel.”

On the final restart, hoping his fuel would last, Wallace, who was on the postseason fringe, pulled away from Larson to earn his third Cup win and first since Sept. 11, 2022, at Kansas.

“That adrenaline rush is crazy, ’cause I’m coming off that right now – and I’m worn out,” Wallace said, as reported by NASCAR.com. “It’s unbelievable. To win here at the Brickyard, knowing how big this race is, knowing all the noise that’s going on in the background, to set that all aside is a testament to these people here on this 23 team.

“It’s been getting old right around the cut line (for the playoffs).”
