New Zealand native Shane van Gisbergen likely will keep singing “Sweet Home Chicago.”
The NASCAR Cup Series driver completed a perfect national series weekend at Chicago Street Race, winning Sunday’s Grant Park 165 from the pole and Saturday’s The Loop 165, a Xfinity Series event that he also started on the inside of the front row.
“What an amazing weekend for me,” van Gisbergen said, as reported by NBC Sports. “Really cool.”
Indeed.
The road course ace recorded his fourth trophy in six outings at Chicago. With three career Cup wins, van Gisbergen became the series’ all-time winningest foreign-born pilot.
“I love this place,” van Gisbergen told TNT Sports.
“Sweet Home Chicago.”
