When Joe Gibbs Racing announced last winter that it planned to replace the retiring Martin Truex Jr. with Chase Briscoe, several NASCAR Cup Series insiders second-guessed the decision.
Looks like the coach made the right call.
Headed by former Super Bowl-winning coach Joe Gibbs, the Huntersville, North Carolina-based organization tabbed Briscoe to take over the No. 19 Toyota and, like many new teams, struggled early. After opening 2025 with P4 at Daytona, he followed it with a P21 at Atlanta, P14 at COTA and P35 at Phoenix. Over the past two-plus months, Briscoe appears to be hitting a groove, collecting four top-10 finishes in the circuit’s past six points races.
With last Sunday’s fuel-saving win at Pocono Raceway, coach Gibbs is back in the playoffs.
“(Gibbs) took a big chance on me,” Briscoe told Prime. “I wasn’t everyone’s first choice. To get coach in Victory Lane after taking a chance on me, it’s rewarding.”
Entering this weekend’s event at EchoPark Speedway, Briscoe, the 11th pilot to win this season, ranks ninth in the drivers’ standings, 173 points behind William Byron.
BetOnline Sportsbook tabbed Ryan Blaney (+750) as Sunday’s sports-betting favorite.

Quaker State 400 Available at Walmart Predictions and Picks
Here are our best NASCAR Cup Series bets for the Quaker State 400 Available at Walmart at EchoPark Speedway:
Ryan Blaney (+750)
Transversing the Pocono field twice to post a P3 at Pocono, Blaney returns to Atlanta, a track where he averaged a 6.7 finish in his past seven outings at the 1.54-mile quad-oval track. He has registered four top-fives in his past seven races.
Joey Logano (+850)
The reigning Cup champion, Logano, generally dominates Atlanta, securing two wins and a circuit-high 282 laps led in his past seven appearances. After placing P22, P21 and P16 over his past three starts, Logano likely is looking forward to getting back to track he learned to race on with his father.
Chase Elliott (+1400)
One of the series’ most consistent pilots, Elliott needs a win. He’s won at Atlanta before. After collecting back-to-back top-five finishes this season, Elliott appears poised to end his 43-race winless skid.
Consistency is key for @chaseelliott (P5), who is the only driver to finish in the top 20 every race this season. pic.twitter.com/5KwuDdpfGs
