NASCAR Cup Series’ Goodyear 400 Entry List: Dates, Event Times At Darlington Raceway

NASCAR Cup Series driver Denny Hamlin heard what his former crew chief, Chris Gabehart, told him moments before Sunday’s event at Martinsville Speedway: “I said, I got it today. It’s you, it’s you.”
What Gabehart explained to NASCAR.com was that he had a feeling Hamlin would break his decade-long winless skid at a track he dominated before the circuit switched to Gen 7 machines.
Sitting in the cockpit of the No. 11 Toyota, Hamlin heard Gabehart’s pre-race prognostication and rolled his eyes.
“Your batting average is like 10 percent,” Hamlin replied.
“I said, ‘bullcrap. You know it’s way better than that,’ “ Gabehart said.
Well, his percentage improved after Hamlin reclaimed past glory by dominating the Cook Out 400, his sixth overall Cup win at the “Paper Clip,” but first since 2015. Hamlin, 44, led 274 of 400 laps and ran away from the field at the end, winning by 4.617 seconds over Christopher Bell.
Since joining the circuit in 2005, Hamlin has won at least one Cup race during 19 seasons.
After his most recent trip to Victory Lane, Hamlin described to Fox Sports his affinity for the 0.526-mile oval: “I want to dominate.”
Like he did in a Gen 6.
Consistently excellent.
