NASCAR Cup Series driver Kyle Larson opened the Round of 12 similar to how he started the Round of 16. The 2021 circuit champion slammed into a wall. On the 19th lap of Sunday’s Hollywood Casino 400 Presented by ESPN BET, Larson’s No. 5 Chevrolet, which ran P10, suffered a cut tire and collided with the Turn 2 wall at Kansas Speedway, signaling the second caution period. Entering Sunday as the playoffs points leader, Larson continued racing through a 56-lap green-flag run, but battled steering problems and was eventually lapped, finishing Stage 1 P35. Larson benefited from Daniel Hemric’s Lap 143 spin to get back on the lead lap. As non-playoff pilot Ross Chastain played spoiler by edging William Byron by 0.388 seconds to earn his fifth career Cup title, Larson limped to a 25th-place finish. Larson opened the postseason with a crash at Atlanta, but rallied to advance to the next round. Can he do it again over the next two outings, beginning at Talladega Superspeedway next Sunday? Larson departed Kansas P4 in the standings, 18 points above the cutoff line. #NASCAR … Kyle Larson on his day at Kansas … “better than Atlanta.” pic.twitter.com/IdsnXdagOT — Dustin Long (@dustinlong) September 30, 2024 NASCAR National Series Weekend Schedule Here is a list of NASCAR national series events this weekend at Talladega Superspeedway (All Times ET): Friday 1 p.m.: Truck Series qualifying 4:30 p.m.: Truck Series Love’s RV Stop 225 race Saturday Noon: Xfinity Series qualifying 1:30 p.m.: Cup Series qualifying 4 p.m.: Xfinity Series United Rentals 250 race Sunday 2 p.m.: Cup Series YellaWood 500 race It's that time again!🤩 Race fans, fasten your seatbelts because this one is going to be wild! @TALLADEGA See you there!🏁 (Tickets: https://t.co/QqpWTMeSYw) pic.twitter.com/Z7kLyCk5FY — YellaWood (@yellawood) September 23, 2024 NASCAR Cup Series YellaWood 500 Entry List Entry, Driver, Team, Car No. 1, Ross Chastain, Trackhouse Racing, No. 1 Chevrolet 2, Austin Cindric, Team Penske, No. 2 Ford 3, Austin Dillon, Richard Childress Racing, No. 3 Chevrolet 4, Josh Berry, Stewart-Haas Racing, No. 4 Ford 5, Kyle Larson, Hendrick Motorsports, No. 5 Chevrolet 6, Brad Keselowski, RFK Racing, No. 6 Ford 7, Justin Haley, Spire Motorsports, No. 7 Chevrolet 8, Kyle Busch, Richard Childress Racing, No. 8 Chevrolet 9, Chase Elliott, Hendrick Motorsports, No. 9 Chevrolet 10, Noah Gragson, Stewart-Haas Racing, No. 10 Ford 11, Denny Hamlin, Joe Gibbs Racing, No. 11 Toyota 12, Ryan Blaney, Team Penske, No. 12 Ford 13, AJ Allmendinger, Kaulig Racing, No. 13 Chevrolet 14, Chase Briscoe, Stewart-Haas Racing, No. 14 Ford 15, Cody Ware, Rick Ware Racing, No. 15 Ford 16, Shane van Gisbergen, Kaulig Racing, No. 16 Chevrolet 17, Chris Buescher, RFK Racing, No. 17 Ford 18, Martin Truex Jr., Joe Gibbs Racing, No. 19 Toyota 19, Christopher Bell, Joe Gibbs Racing, No. 20 Toyota 20, Harrison Burton, Wood Brothers Racing, No. 21 Ford 21, Joey Logano, Team Penske, No. 22 Ford 22, Bubba Wallace, 23XI Racing, No. 23 Toyota 23, William Byron, Hendrick Motorsports, No. 24 Chevrolet 24, Daniel Hemric, Kaulig Racing, No. 31 Chevrolet 25, Michael McDowell, Front Row Motorsports, 34 Ford 26, Todd Gilliland, Front Row Motorsports, No. 38 Ford 27, Ryan Preece, Stewart-Haas Racing, No. 41 Ford 28, John Hunter Nemechek, Legacy Motor Club, No. 42 Chevrolet 29, Erik Jones, Legacy Motor Club, No. 43 Chevrolet 30, JJ Yeley, NY Racing Team, No. 44 Chevrolet 31, Tyler Reddick, 23XI Racing, No.45 Toyota 32, Ricky Stenhouse Jr., JTG Daugherty Racing, No. 47 Chevrolet 33, Alex Bowman, Hendrick Motorsports, No. 48 Chevrolet 34, Corey LaJoie, Rick Ware Racing, No. 51 Ford 35, Ty Gibbs, Joe Gibbs Racing, No. 54 Toyota 36, Anthony Alfredo, Beard Motorsports, No. 62 Chevrolet 37, Zane Smith, Spire Motorsports, No. 71 Chevrolet 38, Carson Hocevar, Spire Motorsports, No. 77 Chevrolet 39, BJ McLeod, Live Fast Motorsports, No. 78 Chevrolet 40, Daniel Suárez, Trackhouse Racing, No. 99 Chevrolet See y'all real soon!#YellaWood500 | #UnitedRentals250 | #LovesRVStop225 pic.twitter.com/co0TOOpgGL — Talladega Superspeedway (@TALLADEGA) September 16, 2024 Written by Sports EditorJeff Hawkins Jeff Hawkins is an award-winning sportswriter with more than four decades in the industry, in both print and digital media.
