As Corey Heim continues to drive the narrative of running away with the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, Viking Motorsports made a late-season Xfinity Series driver change.
With just three postseason events remaining, Matt DiBenedetto was released from his duties with the No. 99 Chevrolet team, replaced by Truck circuit standout Connor Mosack.
The 26-year-old Charlotte, N.C., native will make his Viking debut Saturday at Talladega Superspeedway.
Mosack ranks No. 14 in the drivers’ standings, compiling four top-10 finishes in 22 starts. He posted two top-five finishes in 31 career Xfinity starts.
DiBenedetto recorded one top-five finish in 30 starts.
“We’d like to thank Matt for his contributions throughout our inaugural season,” Viking Motorsports general manager Jeremy Lange said in a press release. “He played a meaningful role in establishing the foundation of this team, and we wish him the best.”
As Viking makes a late-season change, Heim (-160) continues to be the overwhelming sports-betting favorite to win claim his first drivers’ championship, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
