NASCAR Truck Series driver Corey Heim didn’t create much drama during last Saturday’s Baptist Health 200 At Homestead-Miami Speedway.

He wanted to, though.

Heim did everything but secure a trip to next month’s Championship 4 race at Phoenix Raceway. Heim led a race-high 68 laps, but his advantage slipped away on pit strategy. Race winner Grant Enfinger captured his second straight Round of 8 event after stretching his fuel over the final 55 laps.

Heim compiled 52 playoff points, second-most to Enfinger (55) and solidified his chances to qualify for the final four. Among the seven divers competing for the final three spots, Heim sits 49 points above the elimination line, entering next Friday’s Round of 8 finale, the Zip Buy Now, Pay Later 200 race at Martinsville Speedway.

“It was pretty drama-free on my side, just kind of internal battles as far as the truck handling on late-race runs,” Heim said, as reported by NASCAR.com. “But you can’t be mad about a top-three truck all day, and we had a great points day, and that’s what we came here to do. Would have been great to win and make Martinsville easy and just focus on Phoenix, but we’re in a great points position going into next week, so nothing to hang our heads about.”

Heim started last Saturday’s event from the pole, won Stage 1 and led for 54 of the opening 60 rotations.
