If he wasn’t a national hero before NASCAR’s return to Mexico last weekend, Daniel Suarez departed one. After crashing in qualifying and starting P39 in a backup machine Saturday, Suarez rallied to capture the Xfinity Series’ event at Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez. It was his first circuit win since 2016, the season he won the drivers’ title. In the fourth place with 19 laps remaining and during the key restart, Suarez passed Connor Zilisch and Ty Gibbs during a three-wide battle. Suarez’s win was the first of two for Trackhouse Racing in Mexico City last weekend. Shane van Gisbergen visited Victory Lane Sunday following the Cup race. A native of Monterrey, Mexico, Suarez’s Cup Series contract ends after this season. Did he help his cause? In 303 career starts, he posted two wins and 23 top-five finishes. In nine years, his best finish in the drivers’ standings was 10th in 2022. Suarez has supporters. Bubba Wallace cried after his friend took the checkered flag Saturday. “I was in the spa and didn’t get to see it live,” Wallace wrote on X (Twitter). “I have chills and may have cried for mi amigo. What an incredible feeling that must be for him in front of his home crowd!” As the Xfinity Series returns to Pocono Raceway this weekend, Justin Allgaier paces the drivers’ standings with 587 points, 54 more than Austin Hill. Crown him the Homecoming King. 👑 pic.twitter.com/QRM4JoDgQi — NASCAR (@NASCAR) June 15, 2025 NASCAR National Series Weekend Schedule Here is a list of NASCAR National Series events this weekend at Pocono Raceway (All Times ET): Friday 12:35 p.m.: Truck Series practice 1:40 p.m.: Truck Series qualifying 5.p.m.: Truck Series MillerTech Battery 200 race Saturday 10 a.m.: Xfinity Series practice 11:05 a.m.: Xfinity Series qualifying 12:35 p.m.: Cup Series practice 1:45 p.m.: Cup Series qualifying 3:30 p.m.: Xfinity Series Explore the Pocono Mountains 250 race Sunday 2 p.m.: Cup Series The Great American Getaway 400 Presented by VISITPA.Com race Check out our Event Guide for all your @NASCAR race weekend information!
