NBA Milestones: DeMar DeRozan Reaches 25,000 Career Points

Steph Curry recently became the 30th player in NBA history to reach the 25,000 points milestone, but someone from his draft class joined him on Thursday night.
DeMar DeRozan Is 31st NBA Player With 25,000 Points
DeMar DeRozan has been just about as consistent of a scorer as we’ve seen in the league over the last 16 seasons. He’s averaged 20+ points in each of the last 12 seasons, including two of 25+. He’s been reliable in his availability as well, never playing in fewer than 61 games in a season since he was drafted back in 2009.
And while he has played for four different franchises, he’s been able to rack up enough points to be included with some of the elites who have ever played the game. In Thursday night’s game, the Sacramento Kings forward scored 22 points against the Chicago Bulls, which put him over 25,000 points for his career.

DeRozan currently ranks 31st on the NBA all-time scoring list, and has the 6th-most points of any active player. He began the 2024-25 season in 37th place overall, and has passed Charles Barkley, Allen Iverson, and Ray Allen in the 64 games he’s played, and will likely move up a few more slots before the current campaign comes to an end. DeRozan is within 275 of Rick Barry, Reggie Miller, and Jerry West with 14 games left to play.
Making it perhaps all the more impressive, DeRozan is the only active NBA player to reach the 25,000 points plateau with fewer than 1,000 career three pointers made.
DeMar DeRozan was selected with the 9th overall pick in the 2009 NBA Draft, two slots behind Steph Curry. He spent the first nine years of his career with the Toronto Raptors before being traded to the Spurs. He spent three years in San Antonio followed by another three with the Chicago Bulls, and is in his first season with the Kings.
DeRozan is averaging 22.2 points so far this season, and is shooting a career-high 35.6% from three point range.
