Netflix

Even though Netflix did not continue with its tennis docuseries, Break Point, the streaming provider has not abandoned the sport altogether.

Three upcoming programs are expected; two are documentaries and one is a series based on a best-selling book.  Legends of the sport have prominent roles in two of the projects.

1. Carlos Alcaraz “My Way” Documentary Drops On April 23

Netflix has been teasing this documentary since last year.  A trailer has been released, and the documentary will feature interviews about Carlos Alcaraz with Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer, and Garbine Muguruza.

2. Rafael Nadal Documentary Has No Set Release Date

Rafael Nadal allowed Netflix inside access to his final months and weeks on the ATP Tour.  Those milestones are being compiled into a documentary.

3. Taylor Jenkins Reid’s “Carrie Soto Is Back” Is Being Developed

Tennis fans are familiar with Taylor Jenkins Reid’s fictional novel “Carrie Soto Is Back.”  It features a retired tennis star making her comeback, and the book is filled with rich details, making fans feel like they are on the WTA Tour with her.

Serena Williams is the executive producer of the Netflix series.  It isn’t clear if she will star in the series, but that would make the movie even more interesting.  Regardless, with a tennis icon like Williams working behind the scenes, the details from the book will be brought to life and made even more realistic.

This project is in the early stages; no release date has been published.
