The Giants need a new starting quarterback for the 2025 season.
The Giants went after Stafford and reportedly were interested in signing the veteran to a two-year contract with $90 million to $100 million in guarantees.
However, Stafford took less money to return to Los Angeles.
The Giants still want to sign a veteran this offseason. Could that quarterback already play in New York?
Per Dianna Russini, the Giants are shifting their interest to potentially adding Rodgers.
The New York Jets announced on Feb. 13 their decision to part ways with Rodgers. The 41-year-old quarterback will likely be designated as a post-June 1 release, meaning Rodgers will be on the Jets’ roster until the start of the league year on March 12.
The 41-year-old quarterback spent two seasons with the Jets but only played one due to a season-ending Achilles injury suffered in Week 1 of 2023.
Despite the 5-12 record in 2024, Rodgers’ statistics proved he could still be a starting quarterback, accumulating 3,897 yards, 28 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions.

This was his answer when asked if he’s willing to give a big contract to a veteran QB.

Rodgers presents an intriguing option for the Giants. New York could sign Rodgers to a cheap deal, with Rodgers still receiving the majority of his 2025 money from the Jets.
Besides Rodgers, the Giants will look at other veteran quarterbacks, including Sam Darnold and Russell Wilson.
If the Giants go with Rodgers and Wilson, these quarterbacks will be considered bridge quarterbacks, permanent solutions. If the Giants sign Darnold, his contract will determine if he’s a short-term or long-term option.
The Giants also have the No. 3 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.
The team has been linked to Miami’s Cam Ward and Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders.
The Giants are one of the teams interested in trading with the Tennessee Titans to move up to No. 1.
The only guarantee is that Daniel Jones will not be under center for the Giants come Week 1.
