The New York Jets will be operating under a new regime for the 2025 season and beyond, as Aaron Glenn has taken over as the team’s head coach. The changes to the coaching staff will likely bring some serious changes to the active roster as well, especially on the offensive side of the ball.

Rodgers Could Be The Tip Of The Iceberg For New York Jets

The focus is of course on quarterback Aaron Rodgers. After two disappointing seasons, the former MVP will be moving on in 2025, and his NFL future is certainly up in the air. A recent meeting between him and the Jets all but confirmed that his time in New York has come to an end, and finding a quarterback for the upcoming season and beyond will likely be the team’s top priority.

But Rodgers won’t be the only offensive player on the move. There is a good chance that the team’s top three wide receivers from the 2024 campaign will be gone as well, including young star Garrett Wilson.

If bringing Aaron Rodgers into the fold was a mistake, then allowing him to bring his friends along was a colossal one. Allen Lazard was on the quarterback’s wishlist when he joined the Jets in 2023, but the former Packers’ wideout was mostly underwhelming in his tenure, despite his 6 touchdown receptions in 2024. New York can save $11 million by cutting him with a post-June 1st designation, which is a very likely scenario.

Adams, Perhaps Even Wilson, Could Be Headed Out The Door

The real savings will come when they part ways with Davante Adams. He became New York’s problem when the Raiders shipped him off in the middle of last season, and he is owed one of the largest non-QB salaries for 2025. But the juice is no longer worth the squeeze, and the Jets can save between $30 million and $36 million, depending on when they decide to part ways with Adams.

And given his comments and rumors that he may want out of New York, don’t be surprised if the Jets trade away Garrett Wilson this offseason. His young age and high production would make the former first round pick a valuable commodity on the trade market, and the Jets would likely garner a first round pick in return, and maybe even more. Wilson tweeted support for Bryce Young back in January, which has caused some to speculate that the Panthers could be an option as a trade partner.

As it stands today, the Jets rank 21st in available cap space for the 2025 offseason. But they would likely rise to the top if they make the moves mentioned above.
