Would the Pittsburgh Steelers ever fire Mike Tomlin? After the Steelers’ most recent loss, the situation in Pittsburgh is worth monitoring.

Mike Tomlin Booed In Steelers’ Loss

Has Tomlin’s message run its course in Pittsburgh? That’s one of the pressing issues in the Steelers’ locker room.

The Steelers were dominated in a 26-7 loss to the Buffalo Bills. After a 4-1 start, the Steelers have lost five of their last seven games and have fallen out of first place in the AFC North.

After the loss to the Bills, the fans booed the Steelers as they ran to the locker room. Tomlin believes the fans have a right to voice their displeasure.

“In general, I agree with them, from this perspective: Football is our game, we’re in a sport entertainment business,” Tomlin said to the media on Tuesday. “And so if you root for the Steelers, entertaining them is winning. And so when you’re not winning, it’s not entertaining.”

Tomlin added, “If you’ve been in this business, you understand that, and so I respect it. I share frustrations, I understand what makes this thing go, and winning is what makes this thing go.”

The Steelers didn’t just lose to the Bills; they were dominated. Buffalo outgained Pittsburgh 372 to 166.

The Bills ran the ball at will, totaling 249 rushing yards.

To help the struggling offense, the Steelers claimed wide receiver Adam Thielen off waivers on Tuesday. Thielen is a veteran wide receiver who has a chance to become Rodgers’ No. 2 wideout behind DK Metcalf.

Pittsburgh now heads to Baltimore to play the first-place Ravens. The Steelers and Ravens are both 6-6, but Baltimore currently has the tiebreaker. Sunday’s winner will move into sole possession of first place.

Tomlin is taking an optimistic approach to the Week 14 matchup.

“The beautiful thing about this league is that week in and week out you start anew,” Tomlin said. “There’s certainly, particularly at this point of the year, some evidence of who you are, and evidence of who your opponents are. But from a strategy standpoint, you better start at ground zero. You better build. And that’s what we’re in the process of doing today and this week in an effort to put out a better performance this week.”

Steelers Next Head Coach

Tomlin has never had a losing season with the Steelers since he took over in 2007.

It’s hard to fathom Tomlin not wearing black and yellow colors on Sundays. However, anything is possible, especially with a team that has not won a playoff game since 2016.

Polymarket gives Tomlin a 2% chance of being the next NFL coach fired.

It’s unlikely Tomlin gets fired. A “mutual parting of ways” is a more likely option.

Perhaps Tomlin wants a new change of scenery. If Tomlin became a free agent, teams would be lining up to hire him.
