NFL Draft Rumors: Could The Vikings Trade The 24th Overall Pick?

No team in the 2025 NFL Draft has less capital than the Minnesota Vikings. They are scheduled to make just two selections within the first four rounds, with the 24th overall pick being their only real asset heading into the process. Should they consider trading their first rounder in order to get back into the 2nd or 4th rounds?
Could Vikings Trade 24th Overall Pick In The 2025 NFL Draft?
The sacrifices that they made last year are affecting their draft status in 2025. The Vikings made two trades during the 2024 NFL Draft in order to nab elite first round talents, and they are hoping that JJ McCarthy and Dallas Turner can eventually become franchise cornerstones.
But the capital that they gave up in trading up for Turner is leaving them thin this time around, as the price tag included third and fourth round selections in 2025. Thanks to a compensatory pick, they’ve moved back into the third, but the 97th overall selection is their only pick within the top 100 other than their first rounder.
Todd McShay’s latest mock draft has the Vikings trading number 24 to the Giants for 34 and 65. With pick 24 the Giants take QB Jalen Milroe.

That makes trading the 24th overall pick a real possibility. Depending on how the first round shakes out, there could be a team or two that is interested in moving up into the mid-20s, and could dangle a third-round pick in exchange. The Vikings would be smart to at least explore that possibility, as they have just four picks overall this year, and have easily the lowest overall pick value in the NFL.
The Bills and Chiefs would be teams to keep an eye on in this respect. Both are picking on the back end of the first round, and have been known for an affinity for trading up, especially in recent years. Kansas City in specific is a likely candidate, given that they have two third round picks to dangle as trade capital.
