NFL Free Agency Rumors: 4 Teams Who Could Sign Najee Harris In 2025

Najee Harris has been one of the most consistently productive running backs in the NFL during his first four years in the league. He is a work horse, starting all 17 games in every season that he’s played in, and has eclipsed the 1,000 yard mark in each. He has finished in the top-7 in rushing attempts every year as well, so mileage could start to become an issue for the 27-year-old.
His time with the Steelers appears to be expiring. Harris will be looking for a new deal this off-season, and it is increasingly likely that he’ll be leaving Pittsburgh via free agency.
Which NFL Teams Will Pursue Najee Harris This Off-Season?

Which teams will be interested? We take a look at four NFL franchises that should be taking a look at Najee Harris during the 2025 off-season:
Las Vegas Raiders
Harris grew up around the Raiders. He was born in Martinez, California and attended high school in Antioch, both short drives from the city of Oakland. The team is of course in Las Vegas now, and they are in need of a boost to their running game. They ranked dead last in the NFL in rushing yards in 2024, something that will be at the top of the list of things to fix for Pete Carroll.
There are plenty of holes to fill on the Raiders’ roster. And although they already have a handful of running backs under contract, an upgrade is needed over the talent that they currently have.
Los Angeles Chargers
With JK Dobbins likely departing via free agency, the Chargers have a running back room that is thin on NFL talent. Los Angeles will be spending the off-season bolstering the team and stable of weapons that surround quarterback Justin Herbert, which should include acquiring an established running back.
The heavy workload that Harris saw in Pittsburgh was due mostly to the Steelers’ lack of an elite quarterback. That wouldn’t be an issue with the Chargers, which would limit the wear and tear on the body of the 27-year-old.
Dallas Cowboys
The only running back on the Cowboys’ current payroll who has any NFL experience is Deuce Vaughn, who has 50 career touches. They should be one of the most active teams on the free agent market when it comes to RBs as they will look to revamp their backfield to compliment their passing game.
Some people around the league have predicted that Dallas will select Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty in the first round of the draft. But Jerry Jones and company could use that draft capital elsewhere if they are able to bring in a veteran like Harris.
Denver Broncos
Denver’s backfield lacked explosiveness in 2024. Javonte Williams was the team’s leader in yards, as he posted 513 on the ground, while Jaleel McLaughlin posted 496 himself. Williams is set to become a free agent, and the Broncos could be looking to upgrade their backfield to give Bo Nix some added help in his second year under center.
The Broncos may have to be careful of how they allocate their money, though, as they are projected to rank 19th in available cap space this off-season.
