Emeka Egbuka was once a heavy favorite to win NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year, according to Polymarket. But recent surges from both Jaxson Dart and Tetairoa McMillan have lowered Egbuka’s likelihood of taking home the hardware, and the race has narrowed as we enter the final six weeks of the season.
Polymarket Figures For NFL Rookie Of The Year Award
When Jaxson Dart became the starting quarterback for the New York Giants, it appeared that the award was his to lose. In early November, the prediction platform Polymarket gave Dart a 49.3% chance of being named the best offensive rookie, with his positional status giving him an edge over Egbuka and others.
But when the young signal caller was diagnosed with a concussion in Week 10, he fell down the charts. Polymarket had Dart’s figure down to 18% in the following days, behind even Indianapolis Colts tight end Tyler Warren, while Egbuka skyrocketed up to 58%.
The market has shifted once again with the news that Dart is on track to play in Week 12. He has climbed up the chart, up to 28%, just ten percentage points behind the lead.
Panthers WR Enters The Conversation
There is a new player who has entered the conversation in recent weeks. After averaging 59 yards per game through the first seven weeks, Carolina Panthers rookie wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan is posting an 83.8 yard average in the four games since. His numbers are buoyed by his most recent performance, when he hauled in eight catches for 130 yards and scored two touchdowns.
After being listed with a likelihood of 0.7% to win the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year award just nine days ago, McMillan is now sitting at 19%.
Including Warren, it is essentially a four-man race with two front-runners. Patriots running back TreVeyon Henderson comes in at 7% to round out the top five.
