The Pittsburgh Steelers have a big question mark when it comes to their quarterback situation for 2025. Russell Wilson and Justin Fields are both free agents after spending one season with the team, and there are talks about bringing at least one of them back for the upcoming NFL season. But there might be a different, big name option that the Steelers will be looking to explore, as Aaron Rodgers is will reportedly meet with the team about their QB vacancy.

NFL Rumors: Aaron Rodgers Set To Meet With Pittsburgh Steelers

Rodgers is technically still a member of the New York Jets, but the team is very likely to designate him as a post-June 1st release. That would essentially make him a free agent with the ability to speak to any team, and there are at least two that have already made contact. It was reported on Sunday that the 41-year-old four time MVP would be meeting with the Seattle Seahawks about their sudden need for a signal caller, which would allow Rodgers to return home to the West Coast.

It was reported on Monday that the Steelers would be the other team. According to NFL insider Adam Schefter, Rodgers has emerged as an option for the team, and the two sides are set to talk things over in the coming days.

It would be a complete overhaul for Pittsburgh’s offense, which already added some firepower before the week even got started. During Sunday’s flurry of moves around the league, the Steelers acquired former Pro Bowl wide receiver DK Metcalf, who will provide the team with the dynamic pass catching threat that they’ve lacked in recent years.

They appear to be only a handful of pieces away from contending. The Steelers finished with a 10-7 record in 2024 after starting out 8-2, but lost in the first round of the playoffs to the division rival Baltimore Ravens. It marked five losses in a row for Mike Tomlin’s team, who viewed their season as a disappointment.

Aaron Rodgers certainly isn’t the talent that he was earlier in his NFL career, as he finished near the bottom of the league in QBR, completion percentage, and yards per attempt in 2024. But he was still able to rack up nearly 3,900 passing yards and 28 touchdowns, making him a viable veteran option for QB-hungry teams around the league.
