NFL Rumors: Colts Have Interest In Trading For Trey Hendrickson

The Bengals are working on keeping edge rusher Trey Hendrickson in Cincinnati by negotiating a new contract, but there haven’t been any reports on a deal being imminent. Other teams around the NFL are keeping a close eye on the situation, and it appears that the Indianapolis Colts are one of the teams that has an interest in trading for the league leader in sacks in 2024.
Trey Hendrickson Has Plenty Of Interest From Teams Around The NFL
The Colts have been busy retooling their defense so far during the 2025 off-season. The unit finished 29th in the league in yards allowed this past season, and had one of the lowest team sack totals with just 36 QB takedowns. They spent the early days of free agency adding some big names to that defense, signing guys like Charvarius Ward and Camryn Bynum to bolster their secondary.
But they are still looking for some help along the defensive front, and have Hendrickson as one of the players on their radar. According to Ian Raporort during his appearance on the Pat McAfee show on Monday, there is interest from the Colts in bringing in the NFL sack leader.

The report is that the Bengals are doing everything they can to keep Hendrickson in house, even after doling out big money to their two wide receivers last week, and defense should certainly be a priority in Cincinnati after the showing that we saw in 2024.
The issue is likely the asking price. Not only would a potential trade partner have to sign Hendrickson to the long-term deal that he desires, but they’d have to give up assets to appease the Bengals. The 30-year-old has one year left on his contract and is owed $16 million in 2025, but reports say that he is not interested in playing under that deal during the upcoming NFL season.
There would be some familiarity for Trey Hendrickson if he happens to wind up on the Colts’ roster. Indianapolis just hired Lou Anarumo as their defensive coordinator for the upcoming season, who spent the previous six seasons in the same role with the Bengals.
